When to book your newborn photographer?
Advice from a lifestyle newborn photographer in Pembrokeshire + other FAQ’s

Welcoming a new baby into the world is a moment like no other. Those first few weeks are filled with scrunchy newborn snuggles, sleepy stretches and quiet joy. It’s a time you will never regret documenting. This blog helps answer the question “when is the best time to book my newborn session?”.

newborn baby photoshoot Pembrokshire.

So when should you book?

To make sure you don’t miss out, any time after your 20 weeks scan is the ideal time to book your newborn sesssion. Most photographers (Myself included) only take on a limited number of sessions each month. This allows us to be flexible with dates, as we know babies come when they are good an ready. So when you book, your date is provisional. It secures you a slot no matter when baby arrives.

What’s the ideal age for newborn photos?

If you want the scrunchy curled up baby look seen here, then ideally within the first 2 weeks. But lifestyle newborn photography can be done any time up to 8 weeks or more. The focus is on sofa snuggles, sibling kisses (if they are feeling it on the day), and your family’s authentic connection. Lifestyle newborn photography is about telling your story. The small meaningful details that make this season unforgettable.

A few pointient moments I often capture are:

How they slot into your arms just perfectly.

The moments of feeding.

Sleepy smiles/yawns.

Plan ahead and combine a maternity and newborn session!

Many families choose to document both bump and baby with a maternity and a newborn session. I offer a discount off a maternity shoot when booked together with a newborn session.
